Three Conversations
Lately, I’ve been talking to many of my guy friends—all of them except Robbie. I began my day, talking with Ben. We’ve been using Skype because it’s cheaper and we get to vidchat which is the closest thing to face-to-face, really. He asked what I wanted to do after I graduated. “I dunno,” I shrugged, “Move to Disneyworld and be a princess.”
“Seriously?” He raised his eyebrows.
“No…probably New York or something.” I said. “We’ll be closer that way.” Our converstation continued until his girlfriend got home from work. We said goodbye and in the morning I received a text: We should talk less often. It’s making my gf uncomfortable. Since Ben is my best friend that hurt like a pinprick. I shrugged it off for the most part and went on with my day.
I spent the rest of the day trying to cheer up two other friends, Johhny and Zack. Both were having money issues and there’s only so much I could do. I asked if they needed help and once they politely said “no,” I said, “I’m here if you need me.” Johnny sent a text later on in the day that read: I wish I was there with you. I’d like to hang out. Meanwhile, Zack and I talked on the phone about anything but money—from lollipops to favorite 80s bands.
I do miss Robbie though.
