Compatibility versus Passion

I will begin by saying, Zack and I have started dating.

Yesterday, at the grocery store, he turned to me and asked, “Are we dating?”

I shrugged, “I dunno. Do you want to date me?”

He shrugged, “Sure.” There was a pause. “I guess we’re dating.”

“I guess we are.”

Not romantic. At all.

But the good thing about Josh and myself is that we are compatible—so the relationship is very comfortable. I can joke around with him and he treats me nicely. It’s much better than the voltatile relationships I’ve had in the past. What this relationship does lack is passion. There’s no longing or heartache (or drama, thank God). I’ve kissed both Johnny and Robbie—they were both passionate men and this was the only thing they had in common. I kind of miss the passion, where my heart would beat uncomfortably whenever I saw the object of my affection. But, in all honesty, I prefer the reliability and security that Zack offers.

Compatibility wins. Take that, you hopeless romantics!
